August 10 - Yesterday

Yesterday was quite a boring day to start off. I woke up around 11:00 and continued to watch “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.” I had read the book all summer and finally got the see the movie. I must say that the movie was spectacularly written and produced. The movie followed the book in almost every aspect and I absolutely loved it. Some of the scenes are kind of disturbing esp if your watching the movie without having read the book. Those who have read the book understand the content. After I finished watching that movie I watched “Like Water for Chocolate.” I would explain what the book is about but I really don’t feel to go into right now. As with the first movie this one followed the book perfectly and it was quite erotically pleasing. I loved the whole magical realism aspect of it, it really added a flavor to the story. If you haven’t read the book, please do because it is incredibly well written. Look it up online and read reviews. By the time I finished watching the movie it had been 2 hours or so before I had to go to work. I honestly can’t remember what I did between those few hrs sadly. Another thing I was thinking is that I feel like when I don’t record my daily life and I forget events or quirky little things that happened to me then a part of my history on earth has been lost forever in space and time. I know that its sad but I like to think that I will make more memories that will last a lifetime. I can’t wait til I have kids so that they can read about what my life was like at this time. Its something that I genuinely look forward to. So, in the few minutes before work I watched the season finale of the new abc family show “switched at birth.” I must say from what I saw the episode was great, I need to finish watching it though. Can’t wait.

While I was driving to work I was bumping british singer Eliza doolittle’s cd. I absolutely love her music and her as a person. She’s so beautiful and her music touches me. I feel like words can’t describe how much I love her music. Anyway, So I reached to work at 5:02 and clocked in. I was bagging for my friend and co worker Jessica and the day overall was very interesting.

a. In case you don’t know I work at a supermarket bagging groceries. So, this lady comes in our line, while she’s talking on the phone and asks Can I bag my own groceries? I was so confused because first of all I have never seen anyone ask that while having a personal bagger and #2 if she wanted to bag her own groceries she should’ve went to the self check out, but obviously she can’t read. It was interesting.

b. Yesterday I started bagging for a co worker of mine who I hadn’t formally met and we hit it off really nicely. What’s even more interesting is that his name is prosper which is so awesome. Every time I think about his name I think “live long and prosper” from star trek. Its so funny. Prosper is a fairly attractive young black male. He recently started wearing glasses and he got a hair cut that looks really nice on him. I’m not sure how old he is and he may have a warrant out for his arrest. The reason I say he may have is because I don’t know if that’s true. I just don’t believe that. He asked why don’t you believe me and I said because I just can’t believe that’s true, which leads me to believe that he was telling the truth but to me its still unbelievable. He’s so cool and chill. We talked about the two girls that went to my school, psychology, the tyra banks show and how he has to keep up a certain image. It was really interesting to talk to him. He said two really nice things, he was like did you used to wear braces? because your smile is so radiant. It was so nice of him to say that and then he went on to say that you look like  a really smart girl what’s your gpa look like? He was funny and cool. In otherwords, he is a stranger that became my friend. Score!

c. While I was bagging for Prosper there was a young lady in the line next to us who had a young son that I was playing with. He was in the little baby car cart and I beeped his horn and he just stared at me. Then, the mother proceeded to say “You know, I think that he’s sexist.” That was just so interestingly funny. she said that she’s basically the only woman in his life and he’s only used to her. Whenever males interact with him he interacts back and she said when a female does it that he just stares. Its so weird. That’s why she thinks he’s sexist.

d. I saw a fellow classmate of mine that graduated with me. It really surprised me to see her, it was wonderful. I honestly miss a lot of my senior class. Even the ones that I wasn’t fond of. It’s just a part of life that I must move on from.

Well, that’s about all I can think about right now. It was a nice and interesting day. This marks the end of my first tumblelog. Hope you enjoyed.

Temptation and resistance

I never thought I would feel so powerful after resisting temptation. Its honestly an amazing feeling to know that I can disregard my craving and not give into it. Practically this entire summer my sister and I have been getting Baskin Robbins every other week and the money we would spend on ice cream alone was ridiculous. I think that maybe I’ve finally learned the lesson of the value of a dollar now that my sister and I are working. It just feels really awesome.
